Sustainable Event Diversity

Since 2010, the Max-Schmeling-Halle has regularly been awarded the internationally recognized Green Globe certification for its comprehensive sustainability measures. In the current certification cycle, the arena once again successfully defended its Platinum status, which was first achieved ten years ago and must be confirmed annually thereafter.

The recertification took place as part of a comprehensive on-site and system audit conducted by the auditor. With a very good compliance rate of 96%, the independent audit confirmed Velomax’s consistent implementation of sustainable, socially responsible, and forward-looking operational processes.
 

The Green Globe certificate is based on more than 360 internationally defined criteria and recognizes venues that systematically integrate environmental and social responsibility into all areas of their operations. Among other things, the assessment evaluates energy efficiency, resource and waste management, nature conservation and biodiversity, as well as social responsibility.

“Being awarded Green Globe Platinum status once again confirms our commitment to sustainability. We are continuously optimizing our processes across all areas and rely on close collaboration with event organizers as well as our two anchor tenants, the BR-Volleys and the Füchse Berlin. Our focus is on the sustainable planning and execution of all events with the clear goal of further reducing our ecological footprint,” explains Sybil Franke, Managing Director of Velomax Berlin Hallenbetriebs GmbH.

 

In 2026, the Max-Schmeling-Halle will continue to be a versatile event venue, hosting concerts by Kraftklub, Zartmann, Deftones, Biffy Clyro, Ken Carson, and other national and international artists, among others. Top-tier sports in national and international leagues will be on display during the home games of the BR-Volleys and the Füchse Berlin.
