Velomax's fifth "Night of Sheep" becomes the first "Night of no Sheep"

Velomax Berlin, the operator of the Velodrom and the Max-Schmeling-Halle, hosted the fifth edition of “Night of Sheep” on the roof of the Max-Schmeling-Halle on July 2. Over 200 guests from the worlds of culture, business, media, and—above all—the events industry gathered to enjoy the traditional summer evening above the rooftops of Berlin in pleasant temperatures.

Over the past few years, the “Night of Sheep” has become a staple gathering for Berlin’s event industry. This year, for the first time, the “Night of Sheep” turned into a “Night of no Sheep”: The stars of the evening, who usually “graze” there, were unfortunately unable to attend due to climate and logistical reasons. Nevertheless, a tongue-in-cheek substitute was provided—in the form of sheep-shaped helium balloons that playfully echoed the evening’s special theme.

The “Night of Sheep” stands for exchange and connection in a special atmosphere. Amid the summery rooftop ambiance, musical accompaniment, and numerous conversations, guests took the opportunity to wrap up the current season together and catch up with one another. This year, the immediate surroundings of the Max-Schmeling-Halle provided a special setting: the visible construction work at the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark made the transformation of Prenzlauer Berg as a sports and event venue immediately tangible. Thus, the evening combined the familiar rooftop atmosphere with a glimpse into the ongoing development of the area surrounding the hall.

The management of Velomax Berlin, Sybil Franke and Sebastian Rüß, expressed great satisfaction with the successful evening and the in-depth discussions with guests and partners on site. With the “Night of no Sheep,” Velomax Berlin brings the current season to a close and heads into a summer break lasting about two months. At the end of August, the Velodrom will resume its program with Joji, followed in early September by a major sporting highlight at the Max-Schmeling-Halle: the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. After that, Velomax Berlin will kick off a full concert and sports season at both venues.
